Why move to the US

Be careful of what you wish. California here we are.

We all know the expression but when it hits us, we feel it. Yes, we are feeling it. Intensively. The ones that are closer to me certainly know how I felt about having the experience of spending some time with my family abroad. It was no secret at all, and the reason – live a global experience, show Nico another culture, add the English to his life – was also no secret.

So, be careful (we were not, thankfully) of what you wish: we just moved to the US, more specifically, to Venice, California.

I love Brazil and, although it’s complex moment, every place has its good and bad things. No paradise anywhere. No hell anywhere. And we don’t think we’ve left Brazil for good, we just said “see you soon” for a life experience. And, you might be thinking, what is next? Is this for good? We are not making this question to ourselves now. We decided to let the flow tell us.

But, when the “be careful…” works for you, you have to honor it.

So, here I am to express my DEEPEST GRATITUDE.

First, I am not doing this alone, my partner in crime for all the years, Bia Granja, jumped into it with me and we decided to live and love it together. Naturally, Nico, our best “endeavor”, had no choice but not to change his own life one more time. When we moved to Ilhabela, 2 years ago, people always asked us if it was “for good” and our answer was “no, for 2 years, then Uruguay, USA, Australia, China…”. And, well, exactly 2 years later, here we are.

Secondly, and super important, I want to thank CI&T, the company that received me 2 and a half years ago but that seems like I’ve always belonged to. Maybe I did, I was not just connected. The other day a colleague – 24+ CI&Ter – said to me: “Bob, I swear to you that you are here many many more years than just 2!” I do feel the same! Good feeling to belong to such an amazing story. CI&T gave me the unique and huge opportunity to help it to go public at NYSE (from Ilhabela – this is another story I will tell some time in the future) and now is welcoming me to the US. Huge thank you for the trust. #WEARECIANDT and a super special thanks to Cesar Gon and Bruno Guicardi.

GRATITUDE is the feeling that I start this new piece of our journey. I feel it’s going to be great learning, great experience, great achievements, and great stories and accomplishments. There will be not-so-good stuff, as always, but we are in for the best.

Many many people helped this dream come true, so thank you all.

To infinity and beyond.
